Ben Roberts-Smith has told his defamation trial that he hired a private investigator to check whether his former girlfriend was having an abortion, just days after breaking down in court.
Australia's most decorated soldier has been suing The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age & The Canberra Times for defamation after reports about alleged war crimes.
