How NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian backflipped on COVID-19 curfews
Posted August 24, 2021 by Lincoln Holmes
NSW has officially overtaken Victoria as the state with the highest ever daily COVID-19 cases, and the numbers keep going up.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian has now implemented 9pm-5am curfews for several Local Government Areas (LGAs) as part of "final measures" to stop the spread of the virus.
It's a clear backflip on what Ms Berejiklian previously said, where she told reporters that curfews "haven't demonstrated they work."
Only 3 days before the new measures were announced, Channel 7 reported the NSW Premier was "showing no willingness" to implement them.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews was also calling for a curfew in Sydney as early as late July.
