5 killed & 40 injured after car ploughs into crowd in Wisconsin

It happened at a Christmas parade on Sunday (local time) in the city of Waukesha.

At least 5 people have been killed & 40 others injured after a car sped through a barricade and into a busy parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Video footage shows a red SUV ploughing into band members and cheerleaders who were marching during the Christmas parade on Sunday evening (local time).

Officials said that at least 5 people were killed, with 11 adults and 12 children were taken to hospital & a total of 40 injured.

1 person of interest has been taken into custody.

Responding to reports of gunshots, Police Chief Dan Thompson said that 1 officer had fired at the vehicle in an attempt to stop it.
