Did ABC Kids show porn to its target audience of children under 6 years old?

To answer the question, we need to look at television LCNs.

A tweet has claimed that television channel ABC Kids yesterday showed pornography, causing anger amongst many who initially responded given the station is aimed towards those under the age of 6.

The alleged 'porn' program in question is Nude Next Door, a documentary penned as a "behind the scenes look at OnlyFans and similar sites that promise young women fast money to sell nudes and more."

But there's a simple explanation.

While the program was shown on Channel 22 - the LCN (Logical Channel Number) - that ABC Kids is broadcast on, it was instead shown on ABC TV Plus - one of the two part-time channels on LCN 22.

ABC Kids as a programming block has been around since the 1990s, but it was first introduced as a split channel in 2001 and lasted until 2003, with the other station being Fly TV.

In 2011, the split channel returned, sharing its bandwith between ABC2 from 6am until 7pm.

When ABC2 became ABC Comedy in 2017, the daily end of the ABC Kids split channel was moved to 7:30pm - a change that remained when ABC Comedy became ABC TV Plus in 2021. The starting time for ABC Kids was also moved at some point to 5am.

The image shared on Twitter that supposedly shows porn on ABC Kids even includes an LCN that clearly references both of the channels, as well as an ABC TV Plus watermark in the lower right-hand corner & a classification of 'M' for mature audiences.

CONCLUSION: ABC Kids did not show pornography.
