Reason Party applies to change their name to Public Education Party in NSW

The move comes ahead of the state election in late March.

The Reason Party has applied to change their name to 'Public Education Party' ahead of next year's election that will be held in late March.

According to a public notice document from the NSW Electoral Commission, they have received the "following application from Reason Party NSW," which included "amend(ing) the Party’s constitution...chang(ing) party name to Public Education Party...remove the abbreviation of Reason NSW."

No information about a name change has been made on the Reason Party's social media accounts or website, and it's unclear whether the change could soon be made for their Victorian branch - where leader Fiona Patten is likely to be re-elected for a third term in the Northern Metropolitan Region - or their federal branch.

In 2019, the NSW branch of the Voluntary Euthanasia Party merged with Reason.

The NSW state election will be held on March 25.
