Ex-LNP candidate selling home he allegedly lied about about living in

Former Lilley candidate Vivian Lobo said in May he intended to live at the property.

Former LNP candidate Vivian Lobo is selling the house he allegedly lied to the Australian Electoral Commission about living in.

Mr Lobo, who contested the seat of Lilley at the federal election, said in May that he intended to live at the property but was delayed by campaign commitments and difficulties with tradespeople.

However, 6 News can reveal the house went quietly up for sale on the 8th of September, as little as four months after the election.

The new developments cast doubt over his stated intention to move into the house, which was unfurnished and dilapidated when 6 News visited in May.

Real estate photos show a property that’s tidier, but by the agent’s own admission, it is still in “need of a facelift”.

The Everton Park house, which is inside the Lilley electorate, was listed on Mr Lobo’s voting enrolment form as his main address.

It’s alleged he was instead living in the up-market suburb of Windsor, which is outside his electorate.

Candidates who live, or purport to live, within the seat they are contesting are able to vote for themselves and advertise their local residency to voters.

There is no suggestion Mr Lobo lied about his address for political gain.

It comes as the Australian Federal Police reveal they are still investigating the first-time candidate.

In an 11-word statement, an AFP spokesperson told 6 News, “The matter remains ongoing so it is not appropriate to comment.”

The 2022 election, which occurred only weeks after the allegations broke, saw Labor increase its majority in the seat of Lilley, with an 11% swing against the LNP.

6 News contacted Vivian Lobo for comment but he did not respond.
