Tim Smith DELETES tweet after being called out by photographer for using his image

Dozens of comments have gone after Victoria's Shadow Attorney-General for his use of the image.

Senior Victorian Liberal MP Tim Smith has a deleted a tweet about Melbourne's wild weather that some labelled "embarrassing" after being called out by the photographer who took the photo.

Power outages & fallen trees have been seen right across the state after an overnight storm saw heavy wind, thunder & lightning - but thankfully, no injuries have been reported despite dozens of calls to the SES.

Just after 7am AEDT this morning, Smith posted an image captioned "Great weather for outdoor retail & dining Daniel Andrews?" which featured an image of the lightning that was taken by photographer Dean Ohlmus & posted to Instagram yesterday.

Ohlmus said on an Instagram Story that the image didn't feature credit & he wasn't asked about using it before it was posted, and encouraged people to "let him know how s**t this is by him & his team."

This afternoon, the tweet was taken down but the Instagram post remains with dozens of comments calling for the photo to be credited, including by Ohlmus himself, who asked for it to be taken down.

Others on social media attacked Smith for the post, calling it "embarrassing" and claiming Smith was "blaming" the Victorian Premier for the weather.
