Conflict continues in Ukraine after Russia launched "unprovoked, unreasonable" invasion

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that "when they invade, you will see our faces, not backs."

Ukrainians are right now waking up to reports of over 100 confirmed deaths and thousands of casualties, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" in eastern Ukraine - effectively declaring war.

Video showing an explosion over Kyiv earlier today has gone viral online, with Ukraine saying it shot down a Russian aircraft over Kyiv, while CNN reports that the object was actually a Ukrainian SU-27 shot down by Russian anti-air battery.

Many are right now fleeing the country, in what has been labelled an "exodus” and a "humanitarian crisis."

A curfew has been put into place in Kyiv, with many citizens reported seeing tanks, soldiers and explosions happening in their own country.

It was also announced that men aged 18-60 are not allowed to leave the country, with many women & children fleeing to nearby Poland.

Yesterday, the president of Ukraine declared that "when they invade, you will see our faces, not backs."

This also comes as Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced 10,000 assault rifles will be handed out to citizens.

Ukrainian officials earlier today stated that Friday (Saturday in Australia) will be "the worst day" of attacks from Russia.

"Expect airstrikes, landings, penetrations and encircling."
