It was a comfortable victory for GWS at Marvel Stadium.

GWS has recorded an important win over Essendon as the Giants continue to cement their place in the race for finals.
Meanwhile the trials of Essendon’s already disappointing season were further exacerbated by the Giants on Thursday night, as the young bombers side were were comfortably pushed aside by a margin of 48 points.
While both sides started the first half rather sluggishly, the Giants would go on to score 6 goals in the second term to pull away from the Bombers, with 5 of them unanswered by Essendon’s inexperienced squad.
Essendon’s record 14th debutant for the season Liam McMahon would score his first career goal late in the second quarter, which also resulted in the Bomber’s first goal of the game.
While Essendon showed signs of clear improvement in the second half, ultimately the deficit would be too much to overturn, with Jake Stringer putting his former side to the sword with 3 goals as well as many major contributions that lead to the Giant’s domination of the game in multiple phases of the game.
Both clubs will return to action next Friday night, with Essendon hosting the Western Bulldogs under the roof at Marvel, while GWS will host their archrivals Sydney in a much publicised Sydney Derby at ENGINE Stadium.
